Nursing Home Neglect May Also Be The Result Of Staffing Issues

|

When a family chooses to entrust a care facility with the health of a loved one, a certain standard of treatment is often expected. Patients in New Mexico and across the country who reside in similar facilities often have pre-existing medical conditions that can deteriorate severely if they are not given the proper care. Nursing home neglect is a serious issue, and many patients have suffered serious injuries or worse under similar circumstances.

A facility in another state is currently under investigation after it has been the subject of multiple wrongful death claims over a recent 5-year period. The four lawsuits against the facility are reportedly twice as many as any other in the area. Although under investigation, the facility apparently remains operational despite growing concerns about overall patient care.

Some of the more pressing concerns could be in relation to allegations that the facility has failed to hire qualified care professionals and promote a certain standard of treatment. Nursing homes that staff a limited number of capable caregivers may be unable to provide the services promoted. Continuing to admit patients into a facility that is not capable of properly monitoring and treating them could lead to a great deal of pain and suffering for some.

When a patient is seriously injured, or worse, on account of nursing home neglect, families may often be uncertain how to proceed. Seeking compensation can be a stressful and intimidating process to navigate alone, and families in New Mexico may often retain the services of an attorney for assistance moving forward. An attorney can address a client’s concerns and assist in pursuing the full amount of compensation deserved through the civil justice system.
